Parents tell us they want to hear from other parents - that's where you come in.
We encourage anyone and everyone to share their experience, tips and advice with Awhi, as a way to support other parents, whānau and carers out there going through similar challenges.
We know everyone’s situation is unique, and we value the diversity of opinions.
We're open to any ideas you have! But if you want a suggestion, we'd love to hear from someone about
- Parenting during the school holidays e.g. tips for keeping tamariki engaged and supported
- Your child's diagnosis journey
- Your own diagnosis journey as a parent e.g. finding out you have autism or ADHD as an adult
- Parenting from a neurodivergent parent's perspective
If you’re not a confident writer but would still like to share advice for other parents, that's fine – we can arrange for someone to interview you and write up an article on your behalf, in your own words.
If you want to write for us, please keep in mind:
- We won’t expect you to write academic essays or be knowledgeable about everything. Our readers are interested in your perspective and personal story.
- We ask that your story adheres to our values so that Awhi can stay a safe space for everyone.
- Authors will receive a small koha as thanks for their mahi.
Register your interest
Please email hello@awhingamatua.org.nz along with your
- Full name, contact number and email address
- A couple of sentences about your child, whānau and connection to disability, neurodivergence and medical fragility.
- What kinds of topics you’re interested in writing about, and any other info you think may be relevant
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
